Veganism is Hard?

I made the switch to Vegetarianism so easily, I don't know why veganism is so hard to me. I think the chocolate gets me, even though due to gelatine and other forbidden ingredients I've cut down drastically on most chocolates.

My 2010 new years resolution was to go vegetarian, and I stuck with that. So my 2011 resolution will be to go vegan. This year was my first resolution and I didn't break it, so I'll be taking next year just as seriously.

I think the problem here is that I neRead More...

Janet Creates A Safe and Happy Home for Farm Animals

Janet Taylor is celebrating her 70th birthday but could pass for mid-50s. Maybe lugging hefty hay bales keeps her looking young and slim or maybe her compassionate heart is her secret to vitality?

Twenty two years ago when she was a feisty, investigative journalist, Janet uncovered a scandal that turned her life upside down. She followed lorries across Europe carrying animals for export to North Africa for slaughter. She witnessed shocking crueltiRead More...

Juliet Devotes Her Life to Saving Animals

Growing up with intense emotions, an affinity with animals and fire in her belly to right wrongs, Juliet Gellatley is a natural campaigner. She was the kind of child who rescued stray dogs and pregnant cats.

However, being raised in a meat-eating home, like most of us, she didn’t make the connection between her love of pets and the food on her plate.

But all that changed when, as an impressionable teenagerRead More...

The Case For Going Veggie

The strong case for “going veggie” rests on four key reasons: saving animals, saving yourself, saving others and saving the planet!

The moral decision to stop eating animals is based on the refusal to participate in the suffering and killing of animals for food. This argument gathers potency when you are confronted with the horrifying facts about 21st century factory farming.

The volume of animals Read More...

I No Longer Eat Animals

I thought I had done the vegetarian thing in my idealistic youth. I lived on lentil burgers, fried rice, pasta and bread from 17 when I first refused my mum’s lamb chops until 27 when I weakened and started eating chicken and fish, mentally adjusting my guilt with the rationalisation that I was now more mature, realistic and conventional, no longer the strident, embarrassing, non-conformist rebel.

However getting re-educated about the Read More...

Proposed Badger cull, quashed...........

What an astonishing start to the day; the proposed Badger cull in Wales has been quashed by the Court of Appeal. The Badger Trust’s opposition was simple – they questioned the effectiveness of the cull and three law lords have ruled the appeal is successful and quashed the order to cull.
Will the Welsh Assembly spend more public money to appeal and pursue this further, or return to the public purse the money already wasted. All credit to the Badger Trust. &nbRead More...
