Help! Meat-eating toddler coming for lunch!Hi, can I pick people's brains, please? I have 2 adults, a young teenager and a toddler coming for lunch soon (all omnivores). The adults will be fine with whatever I serve and, although I know the teenager is a typically picky stick-thin waif, I think she'll manage to cope with veggie food! However, I'm a little concerned about what to give the toddler. I thought of making a cheese quiche, as it won't send them screaming over the horizon in shock.

Re: Help! Meat-eating toddler coming for lunch! How about vegan sausage rolls? Or Fry's fake chicken dippers? or the Redwood 'fish' sticks? That with some chips and peas or baked beans? I know it's not gourmet but what kid wants anything more than that? I doubt that a toddler would notice the difference between a real chicken nugget and a vegan one. Is that any help to you?
I have no plans to eat anybody.

Re: Help! Meat-eating toddler coming for lunch! Thanks, veganwitch, yes I think he has probably been brought up on indeterminate-bits-of-flesh-in-breadcrumbs and he probably wouldn't notice anything different at all if I put tomato ketchup on it! I hadn't even thought of that (long time since I had a child to feed). Thanks again.
Re: Help! Meat-eating toddler coming for lunch!I think breadcrumbed dippers of some type in ketchup or bbq sauce will be good - espeiclly if he gets to do the dipping
Redwood do chicken style nuggets: http://www.redwoodfoods.co.uk/products/ ... oductid=40 And they also do scampi style ones too. Viana also do chicken nuggets http://www.veggiestuff.com/acatalog/via ... ggets.html If they are not fussed about veggie rather than vegan then Quorn do some dippers that are easy to get at supermarkets http://www.quorn.co.uk/products/Chicken ... ppers.aspx Also, Grassingtons in ASDA that I saw lately. http://www.grassingtons.co.uk/ I think that things that look familiar like nuggets, burgers, sausages are very easy to offer people. The minute you start making elaborate 'exotic' meals people get nervous and assume there will be something scary in it

Heck, wouldn't be fussed if the meat was killed in the woods by Uncle Seth with a wire noose! Don't imagine I am kidding. The Viana nuggets look great. If I can't get those I'll be off to Sainsburys for some Quorn. Thanks!
